York Art Gallery, a  public art gallery situated in North Yorkshire, holds a a collection of paintings from 14th-century to contemporary, prints, watercolours, drawings, and ceramics.

The gallery first opened its doors to the public in 1879 for the Yorkshire Fine Art and Industrial Exhibition, inspired by the Great Exhibition in London of 1851. The gallery then went on to become the City Art Gallery in 1892.

Closed in 2013 for redevelopment the gallery reopened in August of 2015. As part of the redevelopment the the gallery space was increased by 60% , which called for more flooring . Simpson York Ltd. chose Chaunceys Bristol Tectonic Engineered Oak 100 x 20mm Character Grade FSC Certified boards for the gallery. The boards were also prefinished with a bespoke matt grey finish and fitted by 4D Contract Flooring.
